Dr. Manan Patel
DDS, DABOMS, FRCD(C)
After completing his residency, Dr. Patel moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he was accepted as a surgical fellow in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Dalhousie University/Nova Scotia Health Authority. His fellowship focused on corrective jaw surgery, with additional training in the management of temporomandibular joint disorders and cleft deformities. During this time, Dr. Patel successfully passed the National Dental Specialty Examinations, earning fellowship status with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and diplomate status with the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Patel is committed to patient-centered care and continuously sharpens his skills and knowledge by attending continuing education courses across North America. Outside of work, he enjoys exploring restaurants and breweries in the Greater Toronto Area with his fiancée, hiking, and playing chess. A dedicated sports fan, he loves watching various sporting events throughout the year, particularly those involving his favorite teams—the Michigan Wolverines and Manchester United.
Dr. Patel earned his undergraduate degree in 2011, after he relocated to the United States in 2012 to pursue dental school. Among over 400 international applicants, he was one of only eight students accepted into his class, graduating in 2015.
His passion for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery led him to complete internship training at two prestigious programs in the United States: the University of Michigan and the University of Maryland. He then remained in Baltimore to complete a four-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center. During his residency, Dr. Patel received extensive training in anesthesiology, medicine, and general surgery, in addition to full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery. His expertise includes dentoalveolar surgery, implantology, and head and neck pathology. He was also privileged to train with maxillofacial surgeons managing facial trauma at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, founded by Dr. R. Adams Cowley, a pioneer in modern trauma surgery and medicine.
Dr. Puneet Sunda
DDS, Practice limited to oral surgery
Dr. Sunda graduated from York University with an Honors Bachelor of Science before completing his DDS at the University of Western Ontario. After finishing dental school, he went to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, N.Y., where he completed a 1-year General Practice Residency (GPR) which involved both in-patient and outpatient general dental care In the hospital. After completing his GPR, he was asked to stay on as an attending dentist to help train the new residents until he left for New York a year later to do a 1-year oral surgery internship. After completing the internship, Dr. Sunda was accepted into their oral surgery program and completed a 4 yr. oral surgery residency. After finishing his residency in 2009, Dr. Sunda returned to Toronto and has been working as a dentist, limiting his practice limited to oral surgery.
